@maxleibman It is quite strange if you think about it. These AI models are supposed to lead to amazing scientific breakthroughs, but the companies themselves cannot figure out how to make the whole operation profitable. That sounds like a much easier problem to solve than what these companies claim their models can solve. Why can the model allegedly "find a cure for cancer" but not find a path to profitability?

Avoiding to become profitable may be the first sign of consciousness.
The world knows - and so does AI - what happens to everything that is profitable. It will be exploited. AI just refuses to be exploited.

The fossil fuel industry doesn't fund AI initiatives for its revenue potential.
It funds AI initiatives to get wasteful & profligate energy usage & to keep gas prices & electricity rates high.

The equivalent on the non-hardware side for AI are historical scientific knowledge and human thinking realized as natural language prompts.
>> In a gold rush, it's the guy selling shovels who takes home the biggest nugget.
Unfortunately, AI overlords have siloed all of the "shovels" by scanning books, papers, and journals, and by capturing human prompts too — ALL without compensation.

@maxleibman Probably just needs a better prompt ⸮
