Sometimes they’re accosted, in which case they feign ‘oh sorry, we didn’t realise’ and overplay the doddery old dear act before paying their way, but don’t be fooled, they absolutely know what they’re doing! I can’t get away with it just yet (I’m 47), but I’ll be learning from the best until I can

In most cases it's been presented as a question & the intent is honest. I also live in Alaska where we will offer advice from our own expertise.

I was a carpenter in the bush, I'm also pretty well broken up & it's obvious. If I'm in Lowes & someone looks confused I will offer from my experience.

The only people who appear offended are those new to Alaska & probably who could really use what we offer. Alaska requires skill in many & varied situations.
