REVOLUTION IS A LOVE LANGUAGE
since #France now has ±½ million kids protesting #austerity and #corruption; i keep going back to the Liberté portion of the 2024 #Olympics as an answer to the question: how were they radicalized?
with moments like this: it opens with ÇA IRÁ, a revolutionary call to love thy neighbor, by pending aristocrats from lamp posts. then it goes to L’AMOUR EST UN OISEAU REBELLE, an aria about how true love is messy.
the french have never been afraid to fight for love
@blogdiva How did I miss that the first time around?! Amazing!

@rejinl I DID TOO! and i spent half a year learning that fucking aria. i honestly thought it was all ÇA IRÁ because i’ve heard a version that kind of Carmen’s the tune. but no, after hearing it for like the kabillionth time, i reckoned it’s a straight up mashup.
btw still can't sing anything from Carmen. was definitely not born to do opera. did learn so much about naturally projecting my voice without yelling, it was a game changer for my acting and public speaking.

@blogdiva oh it goes back to before the Olympics, we learn that song (and other revolutionary songs) at school. And the national anthem is pretty hardcore too.
