      Someone announced in our class last week that men don't cry and for the first time in my life, I publicly hit back and said, "I do". Many in the class were shocked and didn't believe me, so I explained how I've always cried. When I was young, it was secretly but as an adult, I cry when emotion overwhelms me. I don't see it as a sign of weakness anymore. I think it's a sign of strength to accept what your body needs to do and I feel much better afterwards.

      @sjpurrs Good for you.

      only broken, confused men don't cry. Life is fucked up sometimes. The only men who don't cry in those times are the fucked up ones

          Men have always cried. Especially if they found themselves on the battlefields and in the trenches due to their self-overestimation and had to find that their bodies are also injured. Ultimately, they also called for their mother, which is very understandable.

            I cried my eyes out when Stoppit passed and the rest of any fliud left me when little Ouchie died. I don't know what I'll happen when any of our four Noobs pass.

              @sjpurrs I was really surprised when I saw men crying on the evening news about Grenfell, particularly Arnold Tarling. But there was no cruel fallout about it.

                @sjpurrs good for you! It's really important that men get to use the full complement of emotions. Men do not have different emotions than women. Men have been oppressed by the toxic masculinity thing just as much as women

                    @sjpurrs Serendipity. Early today, I told a sensitive neighbor who has been upset by a childish feud among adults in our neighborhood that I will sometime tell her my thoughts about parenting my challenging daughter. Doing so will make me cry, as it has before. I love my daughter a lot and think it is terribly unfair that she is burdened by her unchosen disabilities and lives in a country that will ignore her at best and at worst will judge her.

                            Crying is as natural for men as it is for any human being. Who would say something as absurd as “men don’t cry” in the freaking 21st century! That’s just so dumb.

                              @sjpurrs I'm a boring middle-aged white dude and I cry all the time. Fucking commercials make me cry, movies, sad songs, randomly remembering that my dog will die someday so I have to pull the car over LOL.

                              I was raised by a boys don't cry, dad, but I cry. I still feel ashamed and want to hide, but I do cry and it's kinda silly to deny that we have emotions and are human beings.

                                        @em_and_future_cats The students were a bit older as I only teach adult groups but they all come from different backgrounds, some more conservative than others.

                                          I cried my eyes out when Stoppit passed and the rest of any fliud left me when little Ouchie died. I don't know what I'll happen when any of our four Noobs pass.

                                          @joshef I was the same when our darling Chash passed a few years ago. I was inconsolable for quite a while. Pets can really take it out of you emotionally.
