Germany snubs #Palantir, chooses French supplier for internal intelligence agency
In all seriousness, choosing Palantir, funded by antidemocratic billionaires to defend German democracy would have been madness. #digitalsovereignty

Many "Bundesländer", however, either use already Palantir, or are about to acquire/use it.

@jim At this point relying on anything from an American owned tech company is madness.

@proscience I guess that is the problem with devolution?

Indeed, it can be a downside.
But it's a lesson from the 1930s, so at least IMV, it's worth keeping.
And Lower-Saxony, for example. purposefully decided against Palantir, and when the latter published their tech fascistic manifesto, Lower-Saxony's official response to the press was something along the lines of "we feel vindicated to have rejected Palantir".

@jim It's not “witchcraft” (nice typo, btw), but German experience with the Nazis and their abuse of databases (back then mostly in paper form, but they already used US-provided Hollerith systems too) for prosecuting minorities.
Oh right, the American right does not consider the Nazis necessarily the bad guys anymore, isn't it so? And the Peter Thiel faction.

@jim This is a very specific niche but it would be funny if TrumpXTechnofascists kill off the global software/services market.

Palantir's founders Alex Karp (CEO) and Peter Thiel (chairman) are fascists, and the Palantir Manifesto reflects that:
https://znetwork.org/znetarticle/the-explicit-manifesto-of-digital-fascism-palantir-and-the-alliance-of-monopoly-capital-with-the-far-right/They are evil. The world order they strive for is something akin to Russia, where fascist oligarchs rule with impunity.

It's not a snub. It's common sense as the US uses all information they gather to their own advantage. -

@jim It's BTW the ugly historical argument behind the continental European “fetish” with privacy and the GDPR.
