@slimhazard that's about what I understand too. There are _some_ boundaries what you can say I assume, but I really doubt equating remigration to ethnic cleansing clears that bar, when the example in the Indemnität explanation states that calling another's arguments "utter shit" is fine. Also Indemnität ≠ Immunität, the former offering extended freedom of speech, the latter reduced prosecutional pressure for general criminal actions like stealing.

@slimhazard fun fact: the fascist who called for criminal prosecution regarding the ethnic cleansing statement currently has his immunity revoked (I think the Immunität immunity). And not for the first time.

@grob yeah Germany has wild legal canon to distinguish defamatory speech from free expression of opinion. Such as if you say that a person is a farm animal or a body part, such as an asshole, then it was an insult. German courts actually spend time on this.

Whatever, I can‘t see how they‘ll make the case against a statement like “thing is the same as another bad thing“. It‘s a point of view, with the important quality of being accurate.

Dear Fediverse, I've never asked for boosts, but it's time to flood the zone. Put it in your own words if you prefer. Spread it everywhere.

@budududuroiu @slimhazard i don't think filipino nurses or turkish doctors are being brought forcefully to germany to work. your take sounds dangerously racist - implies those people don't have agency over their lives, and they're just 'cattle', brought here to work.

@pizzadoesntexist @slimhazard you'll be surprised to hear how elites talk about migrants. To politicians, migrants are bandaids used to solve decades of austerity and lack of caring for your citizens.

I'll tell you that today, hundreds of thousands of Romanians for example, despite having agency, will feel forced to emigrate to survive, because a decade of mass emigration caused internal brain drain, budget deficit and patrimonialism to the point there's barely any decent industry / jobs around.

@budududuroiu @slimhazard that elites view us as cattle is not a surprise for anyone at this point. but i would still disagree with you. i agree there are a few countries in the world where you can argue people are 'forced' to leave. but for the vast majority, no - it's a choice. and Romania is one of the worst examples you could have picked honestly, considering the standard of living and security there.

@budududuroiu @slimhazard those are people who choose to leave the country to make a better life, not to survive. that's a choice. romanians are not starving, nor being bombed, nor sleeping on the streets. furthermore - coming back to your original comment, your example also contradicts your claim that immigrants cost the host country nothing. these romanians do cost the host country because they send a large part of their money back to Romania. @pizzadoesntexist everyone wants a better life.

                              1) show me one country in the world that reliably replaced taxing waged labour with remittances and managed to run a national budget. We can argue semantics about €0, but that's not a genuine conversation, remittances are basically negligible to a national budget.
                              2) you mention bombs, in the 2010s only one country in the world had a higher rate of emigration than Romania, which is Syria, due to civil war.
                              3) we live in the EU, and because of the EDP, and loss of tax base, the RO govt is forced to do austerity after austerity, which means that he's, people are put in the position of stay and endure austerity and the breakdown of the state, or leave so they can provide their kids better. Its their decision, but thats like saying it's your decision to hand over your wallet when being robbed at knifepoint

@budududuroiu @slimhazard none of what you say has anything to do with being 'forced' to leave, which is what we are talking about - or maybe we just have a different understanding of what the word means. and neither of us can prove that immigrants are all net positive, or all net negative. the reality is that it's a mixed bag, depending on circumstances. which is why i can't make a claim opposite to yours, but i can tell you that your absolute is not accurate either.

@budududuroiu @slimhazard the conversation was about immigrants, not emigrants. and the only way you can make a case for immigration being a net positive (as your claim of 'costs $0' implied) is by ignoring a large part of the image and focusing only on certain aspects.

@pizzadoesntexist my point, from the beginning of the thread, was about emigration. Why would I argue about immigration, it's clear that immigration is great for the country that receives immigrants, at the expense of the country of origin. Germany's whole strategy was "cheap Russian gas, cheap immigrants".

@budududuroiu @slimhazard you claimed it costs the host country nothing. which simply isn't true as a blanket statement. and you now claimed that immigration is great for the host country. it's absolutely great in the immediate term - agreed. but long term - there are hints we're seeing now of hidden costs. i'm sorry but you're making these absolute statements, and honestly none of them are true - because things are more nuanced than black or white.

@pizzadoesntexist it's a maximalist statement made to deliver a point. The Romanian government pays to raise a kid from diapers to university (healthcare, schooling, school meals), then funds state university for 6 years so that student becomes a doctor. After graduating, the doctor leaves to be a doctor in Germany.

All the effort, money and investment made in the next generation of medics for Romania, squandered, Germany receives a doctor virtually free.

Are you trolling? It's pretty obvious the point I'm making
