The German fascist party AfD has filed a criminal defamation complaint against Chancellor Friedrich Merz, for saying that "the word 'remigration' is nothing other than a synonym for ethnic cleansing based on origin and skin color" before the Bundestag.

It's happening in Palestine too, as well as the United States. The entire world seems to have reverted back to 1930's Germany.@Phracker2Art @slimhazard @renewedresistance If the whole world goes fash, there is no place for the Lancasters and B-17s to take off from and land. That means guerillas have to do the job, like in Occupied France but without any external aid.

Dear Fediverse, I've never asked for boosts, but it's time to flood the zone. Put it in your own words if you prefer. Spread it everywhere.

All these racist assholes in the US and Canada who talk of "remigration" are playing with fire. Almost all of them descend from European invaders and are speaking from stolen land. What to stop Indigenous folks here from demanding these racists be the ones to go home as in back to Europe?

two thoughts:
1. Thanks for the Streisand Effect to the fascists
2. Good luck with the prosecution /s. Parliamentary freedom of speech goes very far in Germany, a lot further than ordinary freedom of speech (Meinungsfreiheit in GER, _not_ the same as US freedom of speech), and explicitely allows statements otherwise illegal (Indemnität, for the law buffs, which I am not) -

The idea is that latter-day Nazis shouldn‘t have a safe space, even in the Bundestag, to say racist stuff. A majority of Bundestag members have to agree to lift immunity when a charge has been made. I‘m not clear from the news that I‘ve read where that stands as of now.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/world/articles/afd-files-complaint-against-merz-130350147.html@slimhazard @renewedresistance Do not use the term "ethnic cleansing", that's the vocabulary of the enemy.
There's an accepted scientific term to describe what you mean: genocide.

@slimhazard that's about what I understand too. There are _some_ boundaries what you can say I assume, but I really doubt equating remigration to ethnic cleansing clears that bar, when the example in the Indemnität explanation states that calling another's arguments "utter shit" is fine. Also Indemnität ≠ Immunität, the former offering extended freedom of speech, the latter reduced prosecutional pressure for general criminal actions like stealing.

@slimhazard fun fact: the fascist who called for criminal prosecution regarding the ethnic cleansing statement currently has his immunity revoked (I think the Immunität immunity). And not for the first time.

@grob yeah Germany has wild legal canon to distinguish defamatory speech from free expression of opinion. Such as if you say that a person is a farm animal or a body part, such as an asshole, then it was an insult. German courts actually spend time on this.
Whatever, I can‘t see how they‘ll make the case against a statement like “thing is the same as another bad thing“. It‘s a point of view, with the important quality of being accurate.

@grob but, as we know, fascists think it‘s treason when you call their bullshit.

@enby_of_the_apocalypse @slimhazard if I overstay my visa in Taiwan, you bet I'll be detained and forcibly deported. How is that racism?
-
@budududuroiu @slimhazard i don't think filipino nurses or turkish doctors are being brought forcefully to germany to work. your take sounds dangerously racist - implies those people don't have agency over their lives, and they're just 'cattle', brought here to work.
@pizzadoesntexist @slimhazard you'll be surprised to hear how elites talk about migrants. To politicians, migrants are bandaids used to solve decades of austerity and lack of caring for your citizens.
I'll tell you that today, hundreds of thousands of Romanians for example, despite having agency, will feel forced to emigrate to survive, because a decade of mass emigration caused internal brain drain, budget deficit and patrimonialism to the point there's barely any decent industry / jobs around.

@budududuroiu @slimhazard that elites view us as cattle is not a surprise for anyone at this point. but i would still disagree with you. i agree there are a few countries in the world where you can argue people are 'forced' to leave. but for the vast majority, no - it's a choice. and Romania is one of the worst examples you could have picked honestly, considering the standard of living and security there.

@AnnieBuddy @slimhazard @renewedresistance wth yes it is ethenic cleansing. It means return emigrants back to their country of their ancestors
@hiphopheaven @slimhazard @renewedresistance
How many generations? Most countries are populated with people who have migrated from somewhere else over history.

@pizzadoesntexist that's fair, you're entitled to your opinion, I'd just encourage you to read this article to understand that even in a secure country, pressure to emigrate exists and is pro-cyclical

@budududuroiu @slimhazard those are people who choose to leave the country to make a better life, not to survive. that's a choice. romanians are not starving, nor being bombed, nor sleeping on the streets. furthermore - coming back to your original comment, your example also contradicts your claim that immigrants cost the host country nothing. these romanians do cost the host country because they send a large part of their money back to Romania. (edit: the ones from the article i mean, not all)
