And they did it to #Russia without a Navy! 77+ ships disabled in what they may call the Battle of Azov.
The Battle of the Atlantic was over 4000 ships lost, but that was over 5 years.
This was a weekend.

@HistoPol Not (many) naval ships apparently, mostly merchant marine. Areal drones, no Navy. With video battle damage assessment. I once claimed drones were only slow cruise missiles, but the asymmetrical nature of FPVs, my goodness this is the end of litoral navies and means that no nation can protect their rivers and coastal waters if they are fighting a neighbor. We see this in the #Iranwar and #persiangulf too.

Mass loss of merchant ships to enemy action is rare in history. Bay of Matanzas saw the Dutch capture a Spanish treasure fleet. Vigo Bay had a fleet destroyed after unloading in port.
Both of these were strategic successes. -
