@chris That would be a good thing. It's the entire Republican party. It has been this way since before Ronald Reagan won. Corrupt, lawbreaking, but always constrained because they didn't control all 3 branches.
Then the Democrats decided they could kiss-kiss Republicans to pass pork barrel
legislation, and make money in the process. Piece by piece the Republicans rewrote law in their favor, while Democrats christened some bridge that made local developers, mostly ones who delivered votes, money.He's not leaving office because we yell or march. He leaves when he dies, or when the Senate removes him, which it could do at any moment, but chooses not to, as it approves of what ICE is doing.
The leaders of the Democrats in both houses of Congress today spoke against cutting ICE funding.
Deregulated capitalism is fascism, and the two parties brought us here, together, holding hands to name some stupid post office.

@steter @chris I am curious onthe definition of "impeached". yes, the Orange Outang was charged with crimes and misdemeanors twice, but Senate found him not guilty, so once Senate rejects the charges, can he still be called "impeached" ?
(Clinton was charged for lying about having sex in the oval office and Senate failed to convict, yet they still sayd "impeached".).
The fact that the Ourang Outang was re-elected despite mounting insurection and total disrespect for law, stealing confidential docs etc essentially voids all those accusations (which was Trump,s goal in running again). And with Supreme court declaring his has immunity while president, Shirley you should expect him to take advantage of this 4 years "get out of jail" card ?

@jfmezei @chris Impeachment occurs in the House. It is an official notice to the Senate that they want the POTUS removed. The Senate then votes on whether to remove POTUS.
Joe Biden chose to not provide the Senate with evidence from the impeachment, and the Senate, in Republican hands anyway, rejected both impeachments by the House.
The removal from office occurs after impeachment.

@jfmezei @steter @chris The House of Representatives brings articles of impeachment (basically bringing charges) against the president. Then they refer it to the Senate, which holds a trial. After the trial, the Senate votes to convict or not. If convicted, the president is removed from office and may also subsequently be barred from future federal office.

That is why I am curious why the House accusation sticks around after Senate find the president "not guilty".

@jfmezei @tiamat271 @chris It doesn't. As I said, anytime the Senate signals it wants to do something, the House will impeach him again. It could happen before the midterms. It definitely will happen after them.

So the statement, “you have been charged with candy bar theft twice” is still factual, even with no conviction. In addition, the impeachment and removal process is not a criminal proceeding, it’s a political procedure, so it doesn’t follow the same rules/procedures as a criminal trial.

In the "everyone is considered innocent until proven guilty,", if Senate fails to find the president guilty, shouldn't he be consiodered innocent and should not have rest of his life impaired by the "false" accusations ?
Outside of the MAGA cult, everyone knows Trump is guilty, but honouring rule of law means we have to honour the Senate's judgement judt as we have to respect that the American population democratically elected a mafia boss.
