To answer your main question, you can quote posts in replies by doing the following:
1. Click ⋯ on the post you want to quote
2. Select "Copy link"
3. Paste the link into your reply, it will be quoted automatically -

First, I already reported the spam posts. There is no way to remove them though, is there?
Is this copy and paste a link of a post method you describe the same as using the relatively new Mastodon quote feature?
