I feel like lesser swearing, where they only pulled out one, it was always "tabernac."
@UrbanEdm @DavidM_yeg @stephanie @eclectech @CiaraNi @MiaMarkTwo I’ve heard from one Québécois friend that which of those words is considered most spicy/taboo varies somewhat by age/generation. Not sure if that’s true? Would love to hear informed opinions.

Oh interesting! I know of “câlisse” but in my *limited* experience have never heard it in the wild. Would it be used by itself as an expression of disgust/dismay, or in a longer phrase?

Cawwww' - lisssss' ! (May be accomanied by stomping a foot or hand).And it can serve for emphasis as an adjective:

OK, lets give this a shot. Basically with my linguistics skills I will be able to do ONE more. That would be quite a short series. To make it longer a fedi collaboration will be required
If you fancy helping please let me know how to write "for fuck's sake" in your language (native, or one you're pretty fluent in - no literal translations from machines please).
Of course the big question is whether it's used elsewhere?
It *might* be a very short series
In Spanish (Latinamerica) we have:
"Puta Madre" which would translate as roughly "whore mother" (it loses something in translation).
Also there is: "Con Una Chingada!" which would be in something like "with a big fuck" in English (again, translation issues).
And a distant one would be "Oh Que La Chingada" which is something like "oh what the big fuck" or "oh what a fuck" again the translation does nothing to the deliciousness of saying these out loud in a proper setting.

I was reminded recently of the idea that swear words have origins in three categories: religion, sex, and excrement. I find it interesting that there's (at least) one less category represented in Scandinavian languages.
