#phone #mobilephone #mobile@meraord I use it since november with eOS. Works fine, i love the battery that lasts 3 days. I miss LED signals in the top bar. Some things seem to be difficult, like identification online via video for banking. I like the size and the quality of the screen. And the privacy features of eOS that protect you from tracking.

#phone #mobilephone #mobile@meraord Yup! Canadian, here; over the past decade my partner & I have owned three Fairphones (a 3+, 4, & 5) and really enjoyed them all.
I'm still using my Fairphone 4, which I got in 2022, & it's still working great. Fast & bright w/lots of storage, & I switched it over to e/OS in '23.
The durability is wild: I've procrastinated getting a protective case or screen protector, but despite dropping it lots over 4 yrs I've only just recently (Jan '26) given the screen its very first crack.

@anderslund Ah... I mostly use the phone camera for photos I take, especially of my dog and cats, meaning: moving object that doesnt quite strike a pose

Good enough in general. I like doing photography (landscapes) with my phone and it's decently good at it. Don't expect the best camera on the market, but it is average+ good. -

The apps I need are available (2FA, pw manager, messenger, VPN etc.) and working as expected.
Pictures from the Cameras are good, but I'm not a camera expert to give a profound feedback on that.
I appreciate the privacy approach from e/OS. Happy to get rid of Meta, Google and MS.
The only point I discovered is that the FP doesn't work with every USB-C charging device (e. g. original Samsung) -

The non-Google software doesn't seem to focus as accurately & struggles with motion correction, but is still a better than the FP3+ post-camera-module upgrade.
The camera on my partner's FP5, however, completely outclasses my FP4 even at its best, & I'd imagine the FP6 continues that.
(we use their camera for any "fancy nice pics" we're taking

In my opinion (Fairphone 4 user with the Fairphone android OS) don't buy the Fairphone if you're very interested in getting a high-end phone camera.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the photos, but compared to other phones, it's not the best. I've attached a few examples that I'm happy with.
Other than that, I prefer the ease of repair and commitment to longevity (software updates etc) over weight.
And especially the ethical sourcing of materialsCc @anderslund

@folfdk Thank you, that is my struggle. One side, wanting good photos - the other side, wanting ethical sourcing of materials, ease of repair, commitment to longevity and less... spyware. @anderslund

This is not the /e/OS default camera app and needs to be activated in Settings > Apps (see https://community.e.foundation/t/feedback-for-v2-4-1/61882/24?u=urs_lesse). It might only be available in the "official" /e/OS version (not in the "community" version). /u
