@budududuroiu @slimhazard none of what you say has anything to do with being 'forced' to leave, which is what we are talking about - or maybe we just have a different understanding of what the word means. and neither of us can prove that immigrants are all net positive, or all net negative. the reality is that it's a mixed bag, depending on circumstances. which is why i can't make a claim opposite to yours, but i can tell you that your absolute is not accurate either.
@pizzadoesntexist the brain drain in the Balkans after joining the EU is a pretty well documented phenomenon, you CAN make a point about net emigration being an economic, cultural and political negative

@budududuroiu @slimhazard the conversation was about immigrants, not emigrants. and the only way you can make a case for immigration being a net positive (as your claim of 'costs $0' implied) is by ignoring a large part of the image and focusing only on certain aspects.

@pizzadoesntexist my point, from the beginning of the thread, was about emigration. Why would I argue about immigration, it's clear that immigration is great for the country that receives immigrants, at the expense of the country of origin. Germany's whole strategy was "cheap Russian gas, cheap immigrants".

@budududuroiu @slimhazard you claimed it costs the host country nothing. which simply isn't true as a blanket statement. and you now claimed that immigration is great for the host country. it's absolutely great in the immediate term - agreed. but long term - there are hints we're seeing now of hidden costs. i'm sorry but you're making these absolute statements, and honestly none of them are true - because things are more nuanced than black or white.

@pizzadoesntexist it's a maximalist statement made to deliver a point. The Romanian government pays to raise a kid from diapers to university (healthcare, schooling, school meals), then funds state university for 6 years so that student becomes a doctor. After graduating, the doctor leaves to be a doctor in Germany.
All the effort, money and investment made in the next generation of medics for Romania, squandered, Germany receives a doctor virtually free.
Are you trolling? It's pretty obvious the point I'm making

@budududuroiu @slimhazard let's not sit here and pretend that poor countries send only their best and brightest to richer countries. that couldn't be further from the truth. it's quite the opposite statistically. take Romania where only 1 in 4 that emigrate are college graduates.
talking in maximalist statements means we're not actually talking, just trying to shout louder.

@pizzadoesntexist healthcare, education, school meals are universal, not means tested or grade based, so your argument doesn't make sense as a rebuttal.
Secondly, you don't need to send your brightest in order to create a massive loss of a tax base.
Again, Romania has been doing some form of austerity since 2008 because of how the EDP dynamics work with a dwindling tax base

@budududuroiu @slimhazard that's the first thing you've said that's actually true and accurate. i'm glad we got somewhere.

also, if he says remigration means ethnic cleansing, and he tries to tell us this is not ok - where are the consequences for the CDU politicians who participated in the remigration conference a while ago?
there are none.
@lazyb0y I miss that too. Currently it is just rhetoric. And that is not enough. @slimhazard @renewedresistance

How many generations? Most countries are populated with people who have migrated from somewhere else over history.
@AnnieBuddy
Let's start with the people who migrated from Europe to the Americas from roughly 500 years ago up to now. It will go back several generations and determining to what degree people qualify might get a little messy.

Dear Fediverse, I've never asked for boosts, but it's time to flood the zone. Put it in your own words if you prefer. Spread it everywhere.

@keydelk @slimhazard With these dipshits you'll be moved to a third place you have no connection to.
@nini
It seems more like the move the a third Reich.
