It still frustrates the Hell out of me that medical descriptions of autism rarely mention sensory issues. They seem to only focus on outward appearance and behavior—how it affects everyone else, not how it affects us.
On a daily basis, the sensory issues are a bigger concern than anything else, but that rarely gets mentioned. It's so buried that many people don't even know that it is part of autism. That's probably why, to this day, people still only self realize very late in life.

@JeremyMallin Sensory issues are the worst part of it for me, which no doubt contribute to my horrible anxiety and high blood pressure. And they are what they are, nobody can just take this away from me much as I wish they could.

@JeremyMallin @pathfinder The social aspects have caused me the most trauma, but all the aspects combined together to make things painful.

@JeremyMallin When my daughter was diagnosed 20 years ago, her sensory issues were a big part of it. So I think the professionals have known this for a long time even if the general public doesn't.
