New comic on space mirrors
@jensorensen @RealGene These fkrs wanna patent the sun.
-
@hyc @jensorensen some rare earths are needed for solar panels, and china has kinda cornered that market. That may just be due to inaction of others though.
Most of the processed rare earths for solar come from China, sure. But the ore they use is usually Australian. You're right - inaction, created a solvable problem.

@jensorensen literally a Simpsons episode
@noiseician @jensorensen lol Simpson did it

@jensorensen
Reminds me of a sign I saw in a medical physics lab: " CAUTION! Do not look into laser with remaining eye!" -
New comic on space mirrors
@jensorensen : the last one also makes me think that if they can actually cut people off from the sun, it's a great way to render solar panels ineffective.

New comic on space mirrors
@jensorensen they've done it. They've privatised the sun

You know, it just occurred to me that those solar satellites could be used as weapons against people on the Earth's surface. Focus the beams from multiple satellites on an area, and you could set it on fire.
@Quasit @jensorensen that happened in some wildfires.
-
@wyatt_h_knott @tbehrens @jensorensen maybe. At least they have multiple approaches running on Kessler Syndrome implementation.

@jensorensenHalf a century on.
And those "clever people" with the coal, the oil, the gas and the nuclear failed for five decades to invest in lithium, cobalt, semiconductor wafer technologies, solar panel manufacturing or any other opportunity.
