    Day 6

    Getting acquainted with the 'vi' editor, which on NetBSD is the 'nvi' version. I created a '~/.exrc' file with a few options for more comfortable use:

    $ cat .exrc
    set showmode ruler
    set number
    set searchincr iclower
    set tabstop=4
    set shiftwidth=4
    set expandtab

      @dwarmstrong There isn’t a pkgsrc port for traditional/hierloom vi, is there? I should fix this.

        @dwarmstrong Ah, there’s already editors/ex. That’s got Gunnar Ritter’s updates, and I should really look into getting other contributed improvements merged into that.

          @dwarmstrong for nvi, in addition to

          set tabstop=4 shiftwidth=4 expandtab

          I also tend to fly with

          set autoindent

          for a bit of convenience.

            @josephholsten @dwarmstrong If you’re looking into this, there’s a vim-classic in pkgsrc-wip that I’d like to have available in pkgsrc

              @dwarmstrong I always recommend Bill Joy's Introduction to Display Editing with vi.

                Until today, I still do not understand why some people love to watch horror movie.
