Getting acquainted with the 'vi' editor, which on NetBSD is the 'nvi' version. I created a '~/.exrc' file with a few options for more comfortable use:
$ cat .exrc
set showmode ruler
set number
set searchincr iclower
set tabstop=4
set shiftwidth=4
set expandtab -

@dwarmstrong Ah, there’s already editors/ex. That’s got Gunnar Ritter’s updates, and I should really look into getting other contributed improvements merged into that.

set tabstop=4 shiftwidth=4 expandtab
I also tend to fly with
set autoindent
for a bit of convenience.

@josephholsten @dwarmstrong If you’re looking into this, there’s a vim-classic in pkgsrc-wip that I’d like to have available in pkgsrc
