    Paul Krugman:

"When officers of a company or people close to them exploit confidential information for personal financial gain, that’s (illegal) insider trading. But we have another word for situations in which people with access to confidential info regarding national security exploit that info for profit. That word is “treason.”

There’s a broader lesson here: You can’t trust a corrupt govt to protect national security. And our govt is now utterly corrupt."

@AkaSci Such behavior may be treason figuratively, but it is not legally: according to the U.S Consitution, "Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court."

@bzdev Indeed, and by doing it in such a way as to lend aid and comfort to an enemy waging war against the US also falls under that umbrella. Like manipulating markets to give an enemy an economic advantage is part of levying actual war against Americans.

but yes, it cant just be for profit. it has to involve a war waged against Americans, either directly by the traitor or by those they give material support to, and the party charged has to have sworn the oath.

                        marines/NG in CA count.

Trumps government seems to be by far the most corrupt regime in USAmerican history.
And still the MAGAs vote for them.

What the fuck is wrong with them?
