    @GhostOnTheHalfShell @jackielovescompchem32
Don't forget Grace Hoper, who invented the idea of programming languages and wrote compilers.

And Lovelace who built the mathematics underpinning the generalization of computer logic, effectively building assembler as a conceptual model ( since she didn't have real functioning machines of note to work with), the base structures of data encoding.

@jackielovescompchem32 Maybe post the name of the person who said that. They are people who need outing so they cannot lurk in the dark and so we know who's brain is contaminated.

With Lucy Maud Montgomery 's "Anne Shirley" being the real eye-opener in 1999 .First 10 years on LMM-forums were the best on the net. Learned a lot here on M too. All the women who are smart enough to disprove misogyny are, in one way or another, stripped of their femininity by others

@jackielovescompchem32 I’d word it “(…) are not included in the definition of femininity (…)” by the misogynists.
The power of definition is real. Not only for them but for all of us.

@jackielovescompchem32 that statement is just untrue, software was largely written by women before men realised "oh actually this isn't easy" and ousted women and stole credit for everything

@chojzina assembly code is a programming language where you directly write in CPU instructions. It's like a slightly less terrible version of machine language.

I have subjected myself to writing TI 84 code in hexadecimal with a Z80 reference chart I printed from the internet, and trust me, assembly is way easier.

I wrote the machine code by first writing assembly and putting in the bytes by hand.

@chojzina converting each instruction one by one, and then calculating offsets for branches.

Here's some assembly I wrote, in an assembly language THAT WAS INVENTED BY A WOMAN

@ rem - calculate remainder through repeated subtractions
                                          @ arguments:
@ R0 - Number we are going to divide
@ R1 - Number we are diving by
@ only changes the value of R0
                                          rem:
CMP R0, R1 @ compare the remainder and the divisor
BLT end @ if the remainder is less than divisor, stop loop
                                          SUB R0, R0, R1 @ subtract divisor from remainder
B rem @ loop back to the initial comparison
                                          end:
                                          BX LR @ return divisor

                                          One last thing:

Trans women programmers are in fact women programmers. Trans women face many barriers simply for being who they are. Trans women have been kicked out of their careers, treated with disrespect, and been harassed for being trans women. And it's getting worse, not better.

And, as for the achievement bit: A trans woman invented VLSI, a trans woman invented ARM 32 bit assembly language, and trans women maintain many of the FOSS softwares you use today (including Asahi Linux and the VC4 Mesa driver, amongst other things)

And a trans woman wrote the post you are reading right now.
