@internetarchive This goes directly against the Internet Archive's mission of facilitating preservation of media & knowledge for the future. There is no point in doing so if you also promote the use of a technology which damages people's ability to learn.
Also, a LLM is the wrong "tool" for the job of climate & long term weather analysis. Not even close. When you want something like this you should always ask a professional, in this case a climatologist.
Does anyone know another general media archival project I can share things with that might use that data more responsibly than Internet Archive is very clearly about to? I don't feel comfortable sharing media with an archive that has embraced such a destructive technology.
at this point, it might be best to just archive it yourself
and im not trying to be sarcastic, i just dont trust any sort of project or organization these days

Generating untold carbon emissions and exploiting global south labour to create this, then bragging about it here, is insulting. We've had climate models for generations of humans that have told us that's a bad idea.

i'm pretty sure we already have all of the information we need about why the climate of our planet is becoming more dangerous, and who did it. all you've done is include yourself in the answer to the "and we know who did it" part. why would you want to be one in that number?
