    @afewbugs You have a cat though, which is allegedly lowering ones blood pressure.

    It's a real Cat-22.

    @Pepijn @afewbugs This is the level of dad-joke (cat-joke) I come here for!

      @afewbugs The older our cat gets, the more often I get anxious and have to make sure that she's still breathing. Luckily she breathes fairly visibly so I only have to look at her for a few seconds.

      @Gulleko after he failed to respond to all the bustling noises of us getting out of bed I eventually found him lying on his back with his head under the ramp of the cat tree, which was a scary few seconds until I noticed him breathing 😂

        @afewbugs sympathy.

        See also - large goldie puppy who wants to sit or lie on me at all times (and who is bored because it’s too hot to take her out or to play with her too energetically).

          So the same cat almost gave my wife (who is working from home) a heart attack later in the day - he started walking oddly and then sitting down and she panicked that he was losing control of his back legs in the heat, then realised he had a poo stuck to his bum

                @afewbugs #SamCat, who is a young 5YO, scared me into thinking he was having some sort of seizure.

                He bolted into the house, eyes big, tail thwapping, and his back and flank twitching non-stop.

                When I finally cornered him, I discovered he had loads of prickly grass seeds stuck in his fur.

                  Today's unhelpful elderly cat update: he took himself off to sleep in a shady corner that we were worried was too hot for him, so we pointed a fan at him and came back 15 minutes later to find out it had fallen over. So Charlie stood it up and pointed it back at him, and he came out of his corner to smack it over again. So we've accepted he doesn't want a breeze and are leaving him to it

                          @moonrabbit when I was a kid we had a dog with the opposite problem, if it was snowing and you let him out to pee you had to go out with him and physically drag him back in when he had finished, otherwise he'd just stay out there eating the snow till he was shivering

                                      @afewbugs Cats are so adaptable. My 18+ year old cat lost her sight about 15 months ago. She always used my bathroom as a base, and now lives there full time. She has food, water, toys, a bed and a litter tray, and seems perfectly happy.
                                      It does make the early morning trip to the loo interesting though!
