@thomasfuchs I mean, we have to have some. Because AI data centers are military technology.

But let’s not have more than we need for defence purposes, please.

      Incredible disconnect.

@thomasfuchs You know you're doomed when those bones are from a one in one hundred drought.

@thomasfuchs when the water is this low, maybe start running. The tsunami could be on it's way.

@thomasfuchs forget the EU. Many of the VOTERS being sickened & killed by the record heat in Europe support racist leaders such as Nigel Farage, Geert Wilders & others who deny & accelerate global warming.

@thomasfuchs@hachyderm.io german government has been pumping hundreds of millions of euros over the last decade into maintaining the river Elbe as a waterway for cargo ships. Due to evaporation, its levels have dropped so low that it's not usable by ships and you can just walk (as in: walk, not swim) through it most of the time in most places.
during spring it was usable by a total of like two dozen cargo ships. this is not new, it was very similar last year as well.

@thomasfuchs The UK is planning to drill for more North Sea oil and gas to burn. :-/. Our current political parties must have been bought.

@woo @thomasfuchs They've always been bought. One way or the other. No one ends up at the top of the political power chain without being bought. That's the whole concept of Bourgeoisie capitalist liberal democratic rule.

right now, at 6:17 pm, it is 100° with 7% humidity, where I live.
45 minutes away, in the greater Palm Springs area, it is 109° with 13% humidity and tomorrow is supposed to hit 115°.

THE LAST FUCKING THING THAT WE NEED, IS A RESOURCE HOGGING, HEAT CREATING, WATER WASTING, DATA CENTER.

My parents live sort of close to fires in Ireland, which has never had wildfires before.

It's crazy that we continue building the very thing that's helping destroy our planet.

@thomasfuchs to be fair to Europe and the EU we have been living in a world of disconnects since the early 2000s.
We are a species that will push our own demise a long as the ROI looks good

@thomasfuchs If the EU wants to do something about water scarcity, let them start by getting rid of the subsidies on meat. Would have a lot of now impact than more or less days centers!
