🌳🐿️Grenaa Halvmarathon - 6 timers ULTRA løb

@officehippy @JvdB @recollir thank you Colin

. It is excellent type 2 fun (the last 2 hours required a good amount of focus and self negotiation
… it was indeed a tough one to “suddenly” summon even faster pace so deep into the race) -

️Grenaa Halvmarathon - 6 timers ULTRA løb71K is what it amounted to today on today’s 6h race

. That was pretty nice …. I attempted (for the first time ever) a negative split. By bumping pace every 2h. At the end it wasn’t super true to the plan (had to dig deep to summon the power).This also resulted in a new 50K PB (by 12 min). But to be fair the old one was set in January (cold!) 2024 and a more exposed route. But I’ll take it
@moelholm@fosstodon.org
Very good result, congrats!
A 5,5k loop is perfect, just running; the aid station is always within easy reach.
I love 6h-races

@moelholm Huge congratulations, what a very impressive run you had.

@oliver thank you

- yes having access to the aid station regularly was super nice

I only took water from the shared foods etc. I brought my own energy that I stuck with. 80g carbs per hour. Via sports drinks the first 4 hours. Then gels the next 2. Not super lovely after so many hours; but highly effective at providing the carb base I needed.

@robchapman thank you so much. Yeah I must say that I’m really satisfied. When I realized I could reach 70K I got super motivated to keep up pace as much as possible

That sounds like good planning. I always bring my own stuff too; I know what I need and want to avoid any nasty surprises. But afterwards, I tuck into the buffet.

@moelholm that's very impressive distance in the alloted time.
I take it that the niggle you had leading up to today wasn't ever a factor, on the day? -

. I didn’t have any trouble really
. There were areas (knees etc, but not shinboneish area) where minor annoyances came and went away again. Mostly during the first 20K (I deliberately didn’t push hard then). Then after that it was like nothing at all. Very weird indeed (but in a good way I suppose). Let’s see the after effects though

@moelholm That sounds like the perfect outcome. Hopefully a few gentle recovery sessions and some targeted stretching will stop its return.

@robchapman @moelholm Sure sounds like. That said, bodies are weird.

Wow! Well done!
That's impressive! Especially the negative split at this distance, and a 50K PB.
Congrats

That is my new favourite phrase.
