I stumbled across this new ( to me) account setting preference in Tusky, and I assume it's Mastodon wide, for toot replaying, but don't understand what they mean or how they work or whatever they are even for.
So, maybe you could enlighten me on that.

Thanks.When you post or reply, you can set it to have a particular visibility (more about those at https://fedi.tips/who-can-see-my-posts-in-mastodon-how-do-i-send-dms-in-mastodon ).
The idea of that setting is so that it automatically chooses a particular visibility when you are replying.
The reason for it is that a lot of people prefer use a different visibility in replies compared to posts, it's very common to use "unlisted" in replies to a public post for example.

It depends on your followers. If it gets to the point where they find it painful, they can either mute your boosts or unfollow you.

You can zoom in if it's got more pixels than your screen. You can do this on the web inteface by clicking on the zoom icon in the top right corner or by double-clicking on the image.
The zoom icon shape may vary depending on what version of Mastodon your server is running, but it will be in the top right.
The maximum zoom is having 1 pixel of image to 1 pixel of screen, so that's why you can't zoom in on images smaller than your screen or the same size.
