@Pepijn @jon @Veronique_D Did they actually get rid of the border checks at Tønder? I've got checked there once or twice out of three times. However, that was maybe 3 or 4 years ago. The control wasn't too serious though: "Goddag, kommer du fra Tyskland?" - "Schweiz" - "Ok, god rejse"

@larstransportworld They're still there in theory, like on all Danish borders.

I've not seen them myself and two daily commuters* told me that at times months have gone by for them without a check.

*I'd love to have that route as my daily commute.

I’m pretty sure that if you controlled any train of 400 passengers, anywhere, you’d find 1 person with the wrong papers #Schengen

@jon And how many drivers with invalid driver's license/insurance papers (or forgotten at home) out of 400 random cars? I'm pretty sure you'd find at least 1 too!

Yes, and I even replied in basic Danish. So I didn't seem 'suspicious' to them, I guess. However, as Jon pointed out, everyone gets controlled in Padborg, in my experience. That wasn't the case in Tønder, though.

@jon My first time travelling, as a Spanish citizen, throughout Europe I’ve seen this on the ICE between France and Germany and my first impression was:

              • Some n*zi bullies on a train (the police)
              • Doing some racist nonsense border control
              • Being ashamed of that thing, internally cursing them
              • Wasting everyones time

Just to do some racist policies to people who literally move from their countries to have a better life…

@amrtf Yep, happens there *all the time*, sadly. That's the border I cross most often.

@jon oh those border controls are peak pointless, no clue if you travelled from saarbrücken to sarreguimes yet, but neither the tram nor the bridge have any bpol present, so you cam literally just cross the borser to and from france with what ever you can transport in the tram or on foot/bike

further the forbach-saarbrücken section with the TER/Regio? bpol controls are them standing on the platform while smoking and vaguely looking at the people on the platform arriving

                      peak fucking farce

@16af93@wetdry.world @jon@gruene.social the ones in Aachen are absolute pieces of shit, you can be the first person off the train with an unbelievable amount of luggage and just run downstairs and bpol won’t give a fuck if you have the right skin colour

if you are a family with small children that doesn’t
look aryan enough have pearly white skin? believe it or not, straight to jail

“You just see this train” he goes on. “You don’t see what I see in 8 hours”

No. You don’t see most of what happens because you don’t control every car

Oh and you didn’t control my ID properly anyway, you piece of shit destroying a border free Europe on behalf of your smug piece of shit political bosses

@jon One time me and a friend with short blue hair, both white, had a book about RAF (German terrorist group, not British Air Force), that is slightly favourable to them, out.

After glancing at our ids, the border cop joked “I should really check your luggage, what with that book,” and we replied “yes, you really should.” He chuckled and went on to harrass a POC family with completely fine papers, instead.

@cycling_on_rails @jon I think the scarier number is the amount of drivers that are straight up unfit to drive. be it alcohol or age… and you don't get *any* randomized checks there. plus, you cannot be unfit to be a train passenger, and yet
