Fun fact: A few days ago, the leading candidate of the fascists in Saxony-Anhalt was invited by a student representative to appear on a children’s program on public broadcasting (ÖRR) for an interview, during which he explained, among other things, that in the future, children with a migrant background would be taught in separate classes if his party came to power, because they would all have to leave anyway (be deported).6/

as i said in a sister comment in this thread, i used to be friends (i moved) with a former bundeswehr guy from munich who quit and immigrated to the usa. he quit because they tried to station him in east germany and he said "fuck no." so my perception is also warped by the unkind opinions of a hot head bavarian guy
this was 10 years ago. even 10 years ago he lamented there were new "brown shirts" as he said rising in germany again

the centrist democrats just grin and continue on as if everything is normal. talking and dealing with outright fascists. plastic and spineless people
it's maddening
it's why here in the usa we need to take over the democratic party because third party doesn't work in our fucked up FPTP voting system. and we're making some movement. AOC, Mamdani, El-Sayed, etc

you are wrong. The split exists but only in a sense that in East-Germany prople are not following politcal parties forever before they give up. Similar results can happen in the western part of the country. And the root cause is the disastrous ruling of F. Merz. Political values are completely eroded. -

We even have our own little offshoot of the Heritage Foundation. They call themselves Republik21 and market themselves as a conservative think tank because that sounds nicer. But the playbook is the same—just tailored to the specific constitutional characteristics of Germany. -

Beginning in 1989, with the reunification of Germany, all means of production were taken over by the West and absorbed into the capitalist system. A few industrialists owned everything and left the land and its people, with no prospects, to fend for themselves. The young people moved away; the elderly stayed behind. It became the federal state with the oldest population and the lowest voter turnout.
Conservative politicians, the wealthy, and their media celebrate capitalism and demonize left-wing ideologies as direct successors to the “socialist” dictatorship of the past.
The result: a breeding ground for Nazis, fostered by conservatives and capitalists. Structurally and in terms of power politics, it’s comparable to the same shit in Germany a hundred years ago.

Climate collapse could throw a wrench in the fascists’ plans, because it will likely trigger mass migrations of unprecedented scale worldwide. Everyone will be constantly on the move, which could create anarchic structures and cost the despots their power. Then we’ll "just" have to make sure that good forms of anarchy develop, not the bad ones.

The far-right likes to sell left-wing politics to simple-minded people as the ultimate evil, and they actually believe it. When racism is thrown into the mix, the simple-minded are almost completely convinced. It’s not much different here in Europe either.
Social policy is also often labeled as communism, even though it’s far from it.
