Searching for the " character on its own would probably not produce any useful results?

but … let’s say I wanted to search for “test” including the double quotes

Ahh okay, I understand!
If you use "" around a phrase it will show you posts with that exact phrase in the "posts" section of the search results.
If you search for the same phrase without "" it will show you posts containing those words but not necessarily that exact phrase.

Ahh... ok, I don't think you can do that, sorry.
Such posts are extremely rare though? Not many people use "" within the post itself?
