Inter-instance transfer - update.
As you will have seen the transfer yesterday from my previous instance to @instance-mastodon.me.uk has gone really well;
there remains an issue about visibility of posts if & when my previous instance is blocked for bot-infestation;
currently around 1k followers have yet to be migrated across, although it is still slowly progressing.
However, most of you are here & much of that is thanks to @FediTips excellent transfer guide.

@ChrisMayLA6 @instance-mastodon.me.uk @FediTips How the heck did your former #Mastodon instance end up infested by bots? Have you attracted the wrong attention? The rabid right, for example, detests criticism and is pretty good at ending it. Have you riled the fascist frog?!

I think its more a failure of mediation & administration - the admin account has been inactive for over a year (I was advised) & the instance did not reply to any approaches from the oversight group (whose name is now lit back on my old instance - currently inactive as still transferring followers) - so I think it was more opportunity than targeted

@ChrisMayLA6 @instance-mastodon.me.uk @FediTips Very odd. But there’s not much you can do when it’s a voluntary and there’s no organisation behind it. Perhaps an ngo which funds social communication initiatives could help out.

Some followers may take a while to transfer, and in a small number of cases you may need to repeat the transfer to get them across (but the followers that have already transferred stay transferred, so repeating the process just affects the "stragglers"). Hopefully the guide's sections on this topic covers it, let me know if you want any further help
