is there a way to make someone auto follow you? because i think that just happened to me. new follow request, and the approval to follow back, i didn't do anything.

There's no way to force you to follow someone. However, there are a couple of ways it might look like that has happened:
- If someone you already follow moves their account to another server, this moves your follow automatically to their new account.
- If you've accidentally clicked on follow or follow request while scrolling account search results (which can happen on some phone apps).
p.s. Did you mean the other way around and someone followed you without you approving their request?
Do you have follow requests activated?
Have you just moved your account to a different server?
