@forestfern I run a site at https://fedi.garden to help people find nice well-run servers to join If the choice feels a bit overwhelming and you just want a couple of good suggestions, then https://mas.to or https://ohai.social are good well-run general servers for example.If you use the transfer guide (https://fedi.tips/transferring-your-mastodon-account-to-another-server/) you can keep all your followers and follows when you move, and your old posts will remain intact and redirect people to your new account.

@claus It's saved on both servers, and updated on both servers if the commenter edits it.I guess at a technical level it is being delivered from the server where the interface is based, so if you were viewing from server B's website it would be delivered from B.This means if server A goes down temporarily, its posts will still be visible when viewed from server B. (At some point though posts may disappear if a remote server stops responding or if it sends out a delete request.)

@contrapunctus It really, really depends on how bad the federated server is. The extremes make this clearer:If Server A knowingly federates with e.g. servers that promote genocide, then that is making Server A's members vulnerable to radicalisation. That's really dangerous, it will get people killed in real life.For example RTLM radio in Rwanda was a driver of the genocide there (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_T%C3%A9l%C3%A9vision_Libre_des_Mille_Collines) and modern genocides are being driven by social media (https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2021/dec/06/rohingya-sue-facebook-myanmar-genocide-us-uk-legal-action-social-media-violence etc).

@moelassus If you go to an account on the Bluesky bridge and block the bsky.brid.gy domain on its profile, that will hide all the Bluesky stuff.For example go to the account @bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy and then click ⋯ and "block bsky.brid.gy" or "block domain bsky.brid.gy".
