I'm concerned that the US government is starting to identify decentralized media infrastructure as a threat to its survival. Repost information about this broadly, and if you have media contacts, inform them of counter-narratives; there could come a time where the fediverse, or any decentralized network infrastructure, is a target as well if we don't sound the alarms now.

@cwebber You are correct, their legal strategy is broadly to define all opposition as terrorism. They are attempting to create a narrative that there is an international leftist conspiracy against the USA. It’s a means to then attempt to connect domestic political groups to this international “conspiracy”. That then serves as a pretext to target them with the state apparatus originally designed for the war on terror.
They’ve been wanting to do something like this since the 1980s.

@cwebber it doesnt matter because its decentralized. a hacker collective isnt organized like a terrorist group. its the same reason why the govt has been unable to attack antifa, dispite also being considered a terrorist group by the administration

@regendans @Quasit @cwebber While defending Autistici/Inventati in particular is important, part of what's worrisome is that the US's indirect attack on it -- "Who will rid me of this troublesome priest" -- could be extended to a lot of projects. Consider what a problem it would be if it became practically impossible for LetsEncrypt to operate, for instance.

@aronowski @lunareclipse @cwebber True. And from what I've read from that Cavalette article, I'd expect the A/I crowd to already be pretty well along in the whole "living with a minimum of enFAANGlement" thing.

@cwebber Backup Fedi on MeshCore... hmm...
@cauZation @cwebber I do wonder if we should be focused on creating tor-only fediverse servers (with gateways for non-tor entities to be able to see, but with the servers designed for it to be difficult to find who is hosting them).
Replace tor with i2p or veilid or your preferred anonymity overlay network.

@cwebber Trump has declared war on us, and in any war infrastructure is attacked. They target A/I and European Indymedias while trying to ban encrypted messaging and require ID verification to use communication networks they control.
We target Flock, Palantir, facial recognition systems, and Cellbrite. We target advertisers on pro-Trump media outlets for boycotts, trying to take down TV and cable sewers like "One AmeriKKKa News" and Faux News. Some of the worst online scum like Andy Ngo, LibsofTiktok, and Kiki Farms face our special attention.
This is how it is in war, conventional or otherwise. Like any other war, the tides ebb and flow, first one side has an advantage and then the other.
We must defend our own assets while taking down those of the enemy. We have defense, and we have offense. Defense keeps us from losing, offense is what makes it possible to win.
Defense and solidarity will keep A/I and Noblogs up, no cooperation from US anything needed. US ISPs may block them, but Tor and non-US VPNs will blow through those blockades like a column of tanks through a border wall.
An attack on one is an attack on all, now more than ever we must stand with A/I.

There will be a time, "I guarantee it" if these overlords aren't stopped, plan on it being very real. They're doing whatever they like acting like a mob with no restraints, as they have NONE.
@SCALETHEORY @cwebber The time to fight is NOW. A/I today, and Mastodon next if we don't throw this attack back into the sea.
