For Instagram, my art is "Likely made with AI". Hard to be an artist in 2026...
@davidrevoy maybe this AI era is to tell us to not rely on technology too much

@davidrevoy Time to ditch the metaverse?

@davidrevoy Only way to get rid of AI is to take the money out of it. Meta is making money on this and if they haven’t already started I bet they will start making their own AI accounts.
(Which is why I think free open source AI would grind the AI companies to a halt, because there would be no money in it and then it could be made ethical for whoever insists.)
-
@davidrevoy In my personal opinion, you could actually sue Meta for damages here, for harm to your job or reputation, or stop using these social networks.
@pafurijaz @davidrevoy I'd say do both. Unless you rely on Instagram for a sizeable part of your income.

@davidrevoy : the problem is that now you can find genAI that creates timelapses. I don't use them so I have no idea how good they currently are, but even if they're bad they still are enough to discredit timelapses entirely. Soon there will be no way to actually prove your creation is manmade and it's TERRIFYING.
-
@davidrevoy Here's the dirty secret nobody tells you: these "AI detection algorithms" are themselves AI, and subject to the same "hallucination" issues.
Many are outright scams designed to trick people into front loading new training data.

@yon @davidrevoy They're actually hemorrhaging money on this, but they're trying really hard to convince investors that it isn't just a huge money pit. See: https://isaiprofitable.com

@davidrevoy either this is a feature with a bad detector, or something to try to promote AI.

@davidrevoy i looooooooove timelapses.
Also i looove artist showing or telling about the effort that goes into their art.
It helps me not feel toooo bad for the sometimes I pick up a pencil and try to free something from my mind. -

@davidrevoy Obnoxious doesn't even cover that. I hope for a day when Meta and their ilk is just a blurb on a Wikipedia page.

@davidrevoy Yeah. I've been getting that with my writing. It's hard to describe how infuriating it is to have your work stolen, badly copied by a fucking machine, and then to be accused of being that same fucking machine.
hate it so much

@davidrevoy i suspect it's because a lot of "Al" art looks like your art…

@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org
Deadass infuriating that one of the most charming artists I know is accused by AI to post AI generated images. -
For Instagram, my art is "Likely made with AI". Hard to be an artist in 2026...
i wrote a whole rant about it with all my lungs
essentially:
the problem of #AI is not fakes (although that is a problem, it's not the main problem)
the problem of AI is that it enables this lowest common denominator asshole going "fake, AI" under EVERY GODDAMN NEWS ITEM AND ARTWORK
that lazy behavior becomes a #disinfo vector all by itself
the point of the #propaganda routine the Firehose of Falsehood is to make us distrust everything, even the real
-
@davidrevoy What the hell, that's disgraceful of them. I mean it can't be that hard for a machine to detect *actual* AI art, can it?
@bloodaxe @davidrevoy The problem is the detectors are based on the same bullshit-machine technology as the GenAI itself, so they're about as reliable.

@davidrevoy Deeply sad times. Feel very sorry for a true (and good) artist.
I would explore real world canvases a little. Where AI has little traction (so far).

@me @davidrevoy yep, reminds me of this gem

Aidan Robbins, a guy on YT who makes really beautiful mini nature/environmental documentaries made a thoughtful video on the subject on one of his secondary channels
Essentially he describes a growing intent to leave in imperfections in his work, and include "behind the scenes" type stuff to sort of make it easier for people to know it's not AI.
Not the exact same kind of art you make, but maybe some principles that might be food for thought:

@contrasocial @davidrevoy If the trend catch on and enough content creator start doing it, this will be fed in the training dataset of all models and they will copy those imperfections and behind the scene stuff too.
As long as those models have free access to everything ever created, there is no escape. It's unfair competition

@davidrevoy Dang, David.
Instagram is terrible most of the time.
