@pixelfed@mastodon.social not sure how much I would trust someone who couldn't make this decision on their own.

@pixelfed great position
I bet your code base will be way healthier compared to others once the poison in the well of ai contribution start to accumulate -

@pixelfed Actually banning agentic contributions isn't really a good idea, as people can actually achieve good quality with coding agents.

@pixelfed it might be pretty unrealistic to keep AI entirely out of your code if you base it on any other open source code that’s not yours. A range of other projects struggle with that.

@CuriousMagpie Remember to reward behavior you want to see. This is good news!
There's nothing so demoralizing as doing what somewhat wants and then getting chastised *anyway*.

@winterknell @pixelfed that’s a good one
! A slightly modified metaphor with respect to software development would be that poisoned compost you use in an organic garden for growing crops cannot be avoided if you get it from your neighbor using pesticides. -

I struggled with that often.

@pixelfed and the agent preparations? Can you shed some light?
-
@winterknell @pixelfed that’s the dilemma of every idealistic project. I struggled with that often.
@timaeus Sure. But what it is not, is an argument for deliberately including slop or poisoned compost in your own projects. Purity is an ideal, and maybe impossible to achieve because we exist in an impure world, but giving up and embracing the slop is not the answer. Five thousand years of religious haggling documents that.
