UN Women is gravely concerned by the military strikes against Iran and the subsequent escalation across the Middle East, placing civilian populations, including women and girls, at immediate risk.

Women and girls everywhere have the right to live in safety and in peace, free from violence and discrimination. Escalating hostilities disrupt essential services, increase the risk of gender-based violence, and further constrain and endanger women-led organizations and first responders.

UN Women echoes the Secretary-General’s call for immediate de-escalation in the Middle East and for all sides to uphold international law and to protect women and girls and all civilians and civilian infrastructure.

"Iran says will hit all Mideast economic hubs if US-Israeli attacks persist"
      AFP: https://www.lbcgroup.tv/news/middleeastnews/909921/iran-says-will-hit-all-mideast-economic-hubs-if-us-israeli-attacks-per/en?src=rss&utm_source=TheWALL360&utm_medium=Rss-articles&utm_campaign=rss&utm_term=Rss
If that is civilian economy targets, as it certainly seems, then that is well outside any legitimate defense, and makes it war crimes, etc.

      @b9AcE
Turkey usually counts as part of the Middle East, right? And houses US military bases?
But I notice Iran has chosen not to start a war with Turkey.

(and Irani weapons can't reach the Suez, right?)

@Gurre Well, yes. Erdoğan's Turkey is an unofficial ally of Khamenei (and now post-Khamenei) Iran, since before Erdoğan too.
During tranquil times Erdoğan sometimes publicly postures as if the opposite, probably mostly to get to remain active in NATO and to keep the EU-candidate status, but there is a long history of e.g. joint military operations by the militaries of Turkey, Iran, and before the civil war also Assadist Syria against minority people and opposition groups, such as one military doing army assault against an exile opposition party camp (including refugee camp) and at the same time the air force of another attacking the same.
Turkey's border guards also while the world isn't looking so closely does commit gross human rights violations to keep people trapped in Iran, strengthening the regime, by e.g. sniper shooting refugees, trapping refugees near the border to then send them back, or deporting dissidents who fled after actual torture back to Iran.

        Authoritarians want authoritarian neighbors,
so the people won't catch any freedom ideas.

"Canada PM says Israeli-US strikes on Iran 'inconsistent with international law'"
          AFP: https://www.lbcgroup.tv/news/middleeastnews/910178/canada-pm-says-israeli-us-strikes-on-iran-39inconsistent-with-international-law39/en?src=rss&utm_source=TheWALL360&utm_medium=Rss-articles&utm_campaign=rss&utm_term=Rss
The "inconsistent" here being used as a weasel word, to avoid having to say the commonly clearly understood phrase "a violation of international law".

          Yeah... ...so then... ...nothing?
          Extremely probably so.

Keep in mind Canada's direct land border neighbor Denmark is under threat of conquest invasion by Trump, and Canada itself has come under repeated attacks of various severe econopolitical kinds for the purpose of the annexation as "51st state", while whimsical Trump has said to not consider armed force for that so far.
Maybe Carney should be among the most vocal worldwide about preserving the protection against crimes against peace as committed by Trump and Putin.

That was the vibe I was getting (especially from following news about Kurdistan), "good" to see I wasn't off-base on this.

US troops were told war on Iran was ‘all part of God’s divine plan’, watchdog alleges
              [...]
One complainant, identified as a noncommissioned officer (NCO) in a unit that could be deployed “at any moment to join” operations against Iran, told MRFF in a complaint viewed by the Guardian that their commander had “urged us to tell our troops that this was ‘all part of God’s divine plan’ and he specifically referenced numerous citations out of the Book of Revelation referring to Armageddon and the imminent return of Jesus Christ”.

“He said that ‘President Trump has been anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth’”, the NCO added.

The NCO’s complaint was filed on behalf of 15 troops, including 11 Christians, one Muslim person and one Jewish person.

Trump's Secretary of War, Hegseth, was caught at a bar screaming "Kill all Muslims! Kill all Muslims!", has multiple Crusades-tattoos like the Jerusalem Cross symbolizing the Crusader Kingdom a.k.a. Kingdom of Jerusalem established by the First Crusade, the main slogan of the Crusades "Deus Vult" (God Wills It), and the Crusades symbol "Sword and Cross", etc.

                  Some background, and more:
"Iran needs a democratic republic, not a return to monarchy"
                  https://english.anf-news.com/features/iran-needs-a-democratic-republic-not-a-return-to-monarchy-84200

Note, considering the source I believe we can assume that by "Democratic Republic" is not meant some meager centralized parliamentarian system, but probably something at least similar to, or in parts of the area complete transition to, the radical Democratic Confederalism (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_confederalism https://ocalanbooks.com/#/book/democratic-confederalism) but that's my guess.

Probably also glad to use it to repress discontent over ICE's atrocities, over the horrendous economic situation for the regular people, and more.
