@Tutanota finally one government in Europe is getting serious about the Big Tech threat. More please.
-
@Tutanota What is the alternative to Zoom that they are using?

@Tutanota
Brave
, wondering what the learnings from the city of Munich were (many years back) -
Yeah, I wonder what office suite they will use.

You can find "The Suite" on Github: https://github.com/suitenumerique

@Tutanota I wish the switch lasts, as I don't think it'd be the first time a move away from Windows happens in certain public administration, to later be reverted and Windows adopted again.

@wyliecoyoteuk yes, of course, still - we should stop propagating information that might be wrong without a reliable source to go with it!
Every Minister in the french government has to work on a migration plan. This plans must be ready until the end of 2026. (https://winfuture.de/news,158029.html)
And they work on "La Suite numérique". Open source, in collaboration with the Netherlands and Germany. (https://github.com/suitenumerique)

@Tutanota
Just to say it, I think we should be pushing to leave all big tech in general, not just U.S. big tech, as it's labeled all the time. The threat of greed and data is a global problem. -
It is the only option for independence and safety and integrity of our data.
The whole EU needs to follow.
@xs4me2 Agreed!

So, to try and stay on topic: @Tutanota claims that the entire French government is "ditching Windows for Linux". This is the part I'm saying is not true.
You mention that
"Every Minister in the french government has to work on a migration plan. This plans must be ready until the end of 2026. (https://winfuture.de/news,158029.html)"
-> this doesn't mean that every ministry is planning to ditch Windows, since there is not even a plan yet. It doesn't even say that the plan is about ditching Windows specifically. Or did I miss something?
"And they work on "La Suite numérique". Open source, in collaboration with the Netherlands and Germany. (https://github.com/suitenumerique)"
Is that about Linux replacing windows? No - it's about an equivalent to Microsoft office. What do you mean by "they work on " this - is this again the entire government? or is it restricted to the DINUM department?
it would be great if the entire gov. was in the process of replacing Win with Lin. as far as I can see this is not the case at least for now, and it may never happen.

@Tutanota Finally, even governments are starting to realize that Windows is just spyware disguised as an operating system
