Time for a protest round up!
Starting, of course, with some words from the streets of Minnesota.
"The Alex Pretti shooting was a public execution. There's no other way to put it. The working class are the majority, and if we want to not have a society where few exploit many for a gain they don't really need, then the many need to take power."

These kids are onto something…@knutson_brain One: they're not kids, as university students
Two: it's not something young people should have to be telling their parents and elders.
Wake up.
(not directed at you personally 🥰 )

Jenn Budd worked as a Border Patrol agent from 1995 to 2001. Since then, she has become an outspoken immigrants' rights activist.

What might have helped her do it earlier? -

I mean, I guess they kinda let the whole world know that Olympic games happening in the USA would not be safe for participants....
ICE policing an international event is dark absurdity funny.

Businesses around Minneapolis are keeping their doors locked, hosting "warm areas" and offering free drinks to protesters and observers.

@fkamiah17 As you know, I'm a wayward half-baked Norwegian who hates America and I'm in Texas, which I hate even more. And I need a crash pad to get the Texas stink off me, go skiing, and work on jumping the pond. Trump says "nobody wants to live there", but fuck, these people have me SOLD. Plus there are TONS of Norwegians there.

Activists from Climate Defiance confronted their representative Tom Struozzi, who was one of the seven Democratic congresspeople to vote "yes" to the proposed increase in ICE budgets.

@fkamiah17 Does this count as intersectionality?

@fkamiah17 I assume that Italy can simply not allow them into the country. No one has a right to enter a country if that country blocks them. Seems like that is the answer. If the US folks with them don't like it they can leave as well.

Washington DC nurses marched en masse to the Veterans' Affairs Department building to hold their vigil.

@fkamiah17 This is touching. I can't imagine any of the VA employees who treat me being gunned down for exercising their 1A rights. RIP.

This is just one of many. I have not seen such an effort to protect the democracy of the USA since the Vietnam war protests in the 60s and that took over a decade before that was ended. Its good that they are starting early, maybe it can be fixed quicker.

@mral Oh, I know - I've been following them all night 🥳
I hope they keep up the pressure, with more mass demonstrations every week until the regime collapses.

Twin cities rapid responders continue to innovate. If ICE occupiers want to continue moving rapidly through town, they will have to pass through a maze of checkpoints set up by neighbourhood defenders, run for and by community volunteers.
