All EU countries have now agreed to open the first accession negotiations cluster with Ukraine and Moldova.
Today, we're launching talks on the backbone of the accession process: including justice, freedom, and fundamental rights.
We've seen the hard work these countries have put in, and we are rewarding it with a clear path forward.
Enlargement is our strategic choice. Our best investment in a shared future of peace, security and prosperity
Turkiye wasn't white enough, right?

@rzeta0 Ask dicktator Recep. -
Moldova should remain a fully independent and non EU nation. Absorbing them into the EU will do harm to everyday Moldovan persons and culture. It will increase tensions drastically in the area and provoke intervention on their soil. We should offer them protection and ally-ship but not schengen or eu status.
I am a Texan from america so when I say we i mean the global west not EU or USA specifically.
I am on a trip in NL tho so atm im on euro time

@EUCommission but when will the EU countries achieve justice, freedom, and fundamental rights?
-
@EUCommission Which means #Russia will be on war with #Europe soon?
@MichaelimOdenwald @EUCommission Soon ? Like in 2014 ?

Granted, I haven’t recently checked the politics of Moldova or Ukraine. And a lot of our democracies don’t smell like roses.
But Turkiye hasn’t exactly been a democratic stronghold lately

A very good step forward.
By the time all chapters are done, the war will be over and Transdnistria will be a regular part of Moldova. -
Which claims need backing up? That i am a Texan, that i am in the NL right now, that the eu ascension will hurt Moldovans or that proceeding with the process will raise tensions in the area?

Wikipedia has two articles about accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldavia:

By the time all chapters are done, the war will be over and Transdnistria will be a regular part of Moldova.I wouldn't be so sure about that. My guess is that the frozen Transnistria conflict will remain frozen and Moldova will join with Transnistria remaining under occupation.
I'm more curious how the present war/occupation situation in Ukraine is going to fit in with EU's defense framework. I doubt that Ukraine will be allowed to claim a collective defense case for Putin's ongoing invasion. An approach that might work might be to exclude part of Ukraine from EU military

(1/2) @Gurre @EUCommissionmilitary protection while the rest of Ukraine would be protected by EU military.
@EUCommission can you elaborate on how this is going to work?
