@hpod16 I'd be curious if there're any plans whatsoever on what we (the private users, but also the governments etc) do, if the american tech elite decides to just block their services for user from Europe. Imagine the situation for the judges from The Hague but for all Europeans.

We're often talking about European alternatives to existing services and platforms but is there also innovative and pioneering tech made in EU which is not a copy of...?

Some examples:

- cryptpad.fr - best alternative to google docs suite. EU financed ~0.5 mln. @CryptPad

- GNU Taler - alternative payments system to Visa/Mastercard. EU financed ~4.5 mln. @Taler

- elfaconsortium.eu "local first" app suite. EU financed ~3 mln. (new, in progress) @elfa

- /e/OS - android mobile operating system and many other android mobile projects. EU financed ~4.5 mln. @mobifree

etc. and many more not financed projects, such as from Linux mobile ecosystem @ubports or linux phone hardware ideas such as @Liberux

@hpod16 The Dutch government did research into 4 browsers and their conclusion is that #Firefox #Enterprise is best for #privacy and #Microsoft #Edge is the worst. They now research switching. Hope the EU will consider this too:

@hpod16 I was recently watching a video by Patrick Boyle about Ukraine's drone attack on the Yandex datacenters in Russia. He posed the question, if Europe wants to have more control over its own data, how are we preventing getting in a similar situation as Russia in case of an attack? Having redundancy by having an extra copy of your data hosted on a completely different continent does make it a far harder target to take down.

@hpod16 Tech sovereignty can only come from Open Source software, but many projects struggle to receive adequate funding, even if it is widely used (like we just saw with PHP). Is there a strategy to strengthen Open Source projects?
