@libreoffice Wow, the situation's much worse than I thought. I thought differences in documents between MS Word and LibreOffice Writer were because OOXML was technically open, but the standard is far too complex for any other implementation to correctly implement. Didn't know about the proprietary OOXML Transitional extensions enabled by default for MS Office documents, and the proprietary fonts that make it impossible to create a free implementation without layout differences.

@theblazetrends The only thing Krita doesn't do for me is there's certain filters I occasionally use as sort of a quick and dirty pass to make textures for 3D assets. But I can already use other FOSS programmes for that. There's very little benefit I can think of to using Photoshop unless you make heaving use of diffusion models or have a very specialised workflow.

@usernomnomnom @semaphor @fonsmark That's not an explanation when the issue is getting away from US tech. That's like saying we have to drive a Ford because the guy who sold it to us only fixes Fords - to which the answer is "Yes, we know, that's the problem, so what are we doing to solve it?".
