@hpod16 the problem is that the same people that don't know will run into lots of UX issues when trying Fediverse. I know a few sadly...

Sometimes, people on Facebook don't know the Fediverse exists.
The European Commission likes to tell them.

@hpod16 hope to see more of them here.

@hpod16 I don't hold out a lot of faith on the median level of intelligence or common sense for the FB crowd. Nothing surprises me with that lot any more.

@lucien @hpod16 Facebook users might also be more comfortable with Friendica rather than Mastodon.
Maybe collaborate with Friendica developers to get a good beginner's guide for Facebook users going?
When working on such a guide, it's always good to have the view of somebody completely new to the software like yourself.
@gunchleoc @lucien @hpod16
My experience of friendica was awful. Full of dodgy accounts and some very nasty porn. Otherwise the only posts I saw were from Mastodon.
I'm hoping it's improved since. -

@hpod16 wow, great! @EUCommission

Mainly depending the server you are connected.
We have choice, many choice, and we also can move from one to another, have several accounts, choose clients too.
That is so great. -
@hpod16 was the fediverse created in europe? it's insane to say this when the technology itself is being mantained and expanded by people all around the world, including americans, asians, south americans, africans, etc.
@nelson@wetdry.world @hpod16@eupolicy.social yesn't. The group designing ActivityPub as protocol was probably international and intercontinental. But the biggest name in that space, Mastodon, is very much German software

@nelson@wetdry.world @hpod16@eupolicy.social eh, not really. Sure, misskey is a big part now. But the big initial push was Mastodon. And, by share, Masto still runs on like 3/4 of all servers iirc. And you can still claim that Masto is German because the main driving force behind development is still the non-profit, located in Germany (even if German government bullshit caused them to also register in Canada iirc)
