Have you ever seen a post or thread that you want to look at again after a certain amount of time?
There is a Fediverse reminder bot which you can use to remind you about a particular thread after a specified time period (it can be minutes, hours, days, weeks, months or years later).
To use the bot, reply to the post or thread you want reminding about, mentioning the bot's account with the amount of time you want. More info and instructions in the guide:

@FediTips It's nice and all, but it tends to appear in the public timeline if you're not careful (and it relies on that central reminder bot, of course). Is there something more local? Also, I rarely want to just "return soon", but instead I often want to "follow" a thread, in the sense of being notified when comments are posted. Is there such a thing somewhere?

The bot is free open source software (links in the guide), perhaps your server admin could set up an instance of it? With this kind of bot there's no need for everyone to use the same one as there's no network effect.
About following threads, maybe that would need to be in your server's software? (i.e. Mastodon etc)
