@occult Ok, you‘re stuck in a tiny space tin with three other people you know very well, have trained with for years, must trust with your life - but you need a password for some tablet???

What is there to protect and against what threat?

@jaddy @occult Against accidental inputs. When you're attached to that seat for hours or float around in micro gravity, you wouldn't want to turn on your tablet without noticing.

Us seeing the code isn't a big deal. If anyone ever gets physical access to that tablet, NASA has other problems.

It’s AI. That astronaut has 4 fingers and no thumb on his left hand.

@Nerde @occult respectfully, it's not. if you look at the picture, it's just due to a weird angle, and you can also see the smidgen of the thumb appear briefly.

@benjaminlj @occult It's protecting against accidental use, not against theft. It's probably public record anyway.

@occult This is what your sound guys, vague term are for. Whoever's in charge of the stream is supposed to have a finger on a button obscuring sensitive information. The mute / black the screen or however you want to do it for two seconds button. If it was one person doing the whole thing I could maybe understand not having organized everything on time (I once changed a password because I had to type it into a stream to make the stream work and it was my piss poor planning), but, it's obviously not, because there's no way in hell that could be so. That poor person, either not thinking of it or hoping someone else had it handled BECAUSE THEY SHOULD! is my first thought.

@occult @dvshkn Believe it or not, the whole rocket is vintage. Including the engines.

@occult In fairness, TouchID/FaceID is hard to pull off with those mitts and the fish bowl 😅

I wish "496 trusted partners" was a joke, but that's a suprisingly accurate number, IIRC.
