That number pales beside deaths caused by predatory house cats, which is about one billion.
As a lover of both cats and birds, I urge cat owners to keep their pets indoors.

These are astonishing figures.@Clutha Agreed. Wind turbine deaths are miniscule compared to other deadly causes. They have become a talking point because certain US president has made it so. Many millions more are killed by infrastructure like buildings, communications towers, etc.

So while I’m all in favour of any way to mitigate bird deaths, those who cite these deaths as a reason to oppose wind power are being disingenuous.

@michaelgemar @Clutha In many cases those who oppose wind turbines are not disingenuous, but are simply lying. It's typical of fossil fuel promoters.

@clickhere @Clutha I found the US figure of approximately one billion deaths with a simple search. There seems to be plenty of evidence from many sources. I have been reading about it for 20 years or more.
I have kept my cats indoors since the 80s to protect them. Saving birds is a big dividend. -
