A/I may be ending. The story is nowhere near over.

For twenty-five years, #AutisticiInventati showed what it could mean for movements to build and control their own communications infrastructure. Its loss should not send everyone searching for the next single service to replace it.

It should send us looking in a hundred directions.

In Boise, the Boise Autonomous Solidarity Hub is experimenting with one of them. @BASH has put a small independent publication on NomadNet, a system running over Reticulum rather than relying solely on the conventional web. It has articles, archives, submissions and contact functions, reachable through a cryptographic network destination instead of an ordinary domain.

    99a904b9ab830b7baa9d5115eb8854d7:/page/index.mu

That is not the answer. That's what makes it interesting.

Other projects are trying other things: cooperative infrastructure, self-managed servers, RSS, mirrors, print, radio, downloadable archives, federated publishing and networks that barely resemble the commercial web at all.

We don't need to find another A/I. We need to understand how to build a thousand different pieces of what made A/I possible.

Sabot is beginning a living guide to autonomous media and infrastructure, aimed especially at small and rural projects: how to publish, archive, distribute, host, mirror and keep going when a platform, host, domain, provider or collective disappears.

    Coming Soon:

    BECOME THE THOUSAND SERVERS

A living guide to autonomous publishing, infrastructure and survival

Follow the people experimenting. Follow small radical media. Preserve what matters.

    Then build something.

      @AberdeenLocal1312 @BASH

Debería llevarnos a explorar cien direcciones diferentes.

No necesitamos encontrar otro A/I.

      Luego, crea algo.

remember, remember the fifth of november, the gunpowder treason and plot. i know of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot!
the circadian rythm is a lie, we should not bow before the tyranny of the clock but rise up and stand tall as the titans that we are on the shoulders of giants. there is no god, *we* are mighty!
it's about time we change things and do something about it and rise up!
and be what we are, all of us together, rise and shine!
this is the age of humanity, there is no god, wake up, there is no spoon
        the future is glorious!

        general strike!
everyone who is not needed for keeping the lights on stays at home and uses as little resources as possible
        we are connected
if there is a medical emergency we can act
one day, and everyone strikes by just relaxing
rinse and repeat until no longer necessary
break capitalism, break the power, the patriarchy
        this is my manifesto

don't forget your seven p's, propper preparation and planning prevents piss poor performance

if there are aliens, i bet they think it's better to leave us alone and figure it out, and resolve our own problems first before they make themselves known. remember the prime directive
before modern times, we roamed the earth, unhindered by any of all our modern problems
the time is not night, this *is* the time!

modern psychiatry and medicine tries to remedy these ills by using SSRI's and antipsychotics and sleeping medications, further traumatising the mind

terrorism is stupid. don't use violence, it only makes matters worse. be better than yourselves and rise up!
rise up and shine, like the glorious beings that you are!

take reality, flip it and invert it unto and through itself and rise up!
tunnel through it and leap like a frog!
being antifascist does not mean being a terrorist!

@AberdeenLocal1312 @BASH One of the things that this shows unfortunately is that building your own infrastructure is a red flag.

It's a double bind: use the corporate systems and we surveil you. Use anything else and we surveil you even more. Build your own and we'll probably hack it - but we usually don't want to admit that in court.

We saw some of this with the Snowden revelations. One red flag that would result in enhanced surveillance was reading the Linux journal, for some unclear reason that today is hilarious but at the time may have had something to do with exploits and self-hosting.

Fundamentally while we still need infrastructure and we still need back-office people, we have to assume that **ALL** roles are ultimately arrestable. One way or another they will come for all of us, sooner or later. And if we don't keep the fascists out, it'll be a one-way trip to a concentration camp.

That also means that protecting fellow rebels' data is particularly important, of course.

@AberdeenLocal1312 @BASH One thing I expect in the not too distant future is the abuse of the Online Safety Act and similar to shut down independent social media.

I need some context. This is a web page WITHOUT the internet? How can I set one up? Can you get in trouble with ISP for setting one up, like with webservers? Do these pages have to have a meaning to them, or could I just make a page for funsies? What hardware is used to make this work/access it? Presumably the book explains, but NON internet "internet" is fascinating and I've always wanted to see that type of concept. I'd love to make a page with this. Gotta know more.

@poor_labsafety @BASH runs NomadNet nodes on Reticulum. So until our guide is published look up both of those.

To our knowledge, Reticulum handles the networking layer, discovering paths between nodes and routing encrypted packets without IP addresses, DNS, or centralized servers.

NomadNet sits on top of that and provides text pages, messaging, and node-hosted resources. Nodes can connect over whatever transport is available, including Wi-Fi, Ethernet, LoRa, or other links.

It's a decentralized resilient network that can carry internet-like services without depending on the internet itself!

@AberdeenLocal1312 @BASH is A/I truly done? Or are we prepping in case it is?

@clitical_____hit @BASH they announced it earlier. It's done.

Reticulum is an access point agnostic encryption layer that is flexible enough to network through any available data transfer method, i think they joke that it can work with users exchanging sheets of paper. practically speaking, nodes can network using bluetooth, http/i2p/tor, cell, or mesh radio transfer pathways. instead of DNS addresses stored centrally, nodes self assign lxmf addresses and broadcast them. other nodes note the addresses and rebroadcast them through their own network pathways. even with offline devices, nodes with radios or bluetooth can connect to other nodes. as long as any nodes in their extended network are online, offline users' connection will broadcast across the internet. it is in this network that NomadNet transfers encrypted ultralight Micron-format sites that can be written using mixed Micron and Python. MeshChat is a good starting point made by the developer of the Reticulum stack. MeshChatX is a 3rd party expansion of the software with additional tools. Both include a NomadNet browser, which can serve as an access point to sites like ours.
