      @valere nice detail, the small pillar maintained by a single person in Nebraska in the last 10yrs is still standing 😄

        Since this has been shared quite a bit, a quick heads-up: this might be AI slop. I just stumbled upon the image online and reposted it without thinking twice. My bad!

        @valere Yeah, some of the lines are weird. It's funny, it's not like this would be particularly hard to draw without AI.

              @aria @valere It was.

              The OSI folks were complaining about it 40 years ago before it ever became popular.

              The majority of the flaws I complain about were glaringly obvious at the design stage.

              But corposcum & fascist sabotage means we're stuck with TCP/IP instead.

                @hsza @aria @valere @LunaDragofelis There is edit capacity that works for images. Why not just use GNU Imp to remake it manually and replace the image?

                          @valere #Historian #LongTerm #Preservation senses tingling:

                          Missing metadata:

                            You bet wrong. I was running comms from Lancaster to Manchester, Reading and London over X.25 (one of the Orange Book protocols) in 1986. The Orange Book was then ten years old, so OSI is at least fifty years old.

                                  @valere I've seen these shapes before in another toot. Obviously based on 'the internet depends on one random guy' meme. But the one I saw had labels. As I recall the collapsed section of the Internet on the left is the bit that is vibe coded. Perhaps someone can find it?

                                          The Cyclades project started in 1971.

                                          Running from 1973 with four nodes in France until 1976 with 20 nodes in three countries.

                                          @gvlx @aria @valere @tusharhero It seems impossible to find now and the vimeo option doesn't allow sale/renting anymore.

                                          edit: Apparently it's because of Vimeo shutting down that part of its service.

                                          Do you have a magnet link?
