@Daojoan Yep, I've noticed that lately I've been regressing my tech a bit, and it feels great. Also, old models with new tooling makes for a better experience, as long as that tooling isn't made by the corps that got us in the current mess.

But it was yours.@Daojoan I miss Google Reader and other tools. I stillm blog. I was tired of having my time wasted on purpose by Twitter, FB, and other sites. Now I blog daily. I have for months. I reverted to my old habit during the pandemic when social media became unpleasant.

But it was yours.@Daojoan Yes, this! This is why I stopped writing on Medium and started focusing on my own blog, on my own domain. Email is also my preferred way of communication. Email, however, could probably benefit from a more modernised protocol.
I can't confirm this, but I do get a sense people are "moving back" to their own spaces on the web. Perhaps I'm wrong. But I actually much rather read and follow your blog on your domain than follow you on a big platform.

But it was yours.@Daojoan Yes, so true. I'm blissfully using RSS to this day, no noise, to-the-point curation with many optiona to expand.
Imho it takes a little effort to setup but there are so many, intelligent options to regain control and denoise 'your' internet

But it was yours.@Daojoan@mastodon.social pretty sure RSS did and does track you, actually… maybe not on hobby sites, but remember that not only those support RSS. it’s not as advertised anymore, but even large sites like youtube still support it.
