The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot

@ketan GFY with your racism... White, black, what a odd way to see the world mate. Stop with this non sensical means of control sh... Why this BS in here ? Stop weaponising melanin.
@JeanZerian @ketan (*fart noise*)

@ketan literally any other combination would've gotten the same response:
- roles reversed: showing whites as victims of "stealing work"
- monoracial (white): product promotes white supremacy
- monoracial (non-white): stereotyping X race as "plagiarisers"Maybe we tone down on the idpol when we really need some class solidarity, eh?

A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead:
Sheesh...that is...wow
-
@ketan It’s so revealing that every office-work AI ad seems to endorse the worst asshole behavior in people. Utter neglect, then taking credit for someone else’s work, then bullshitting your way through, all while not caring about the work product, all for the grand goal of making an extra dollar or winning corporate praise…just the worst aspects of humanity.
@drahardja @ketan They know their target audience.

@ketan
This ad openly sells slop as a tool for the maintenance of white supremacy@ophiocephalic @ketan That's what it's designed to do, and what they are selling.
-
@ketan @drahardja This is satire, right? This is not a real ad or is it?
@finestructure @ketan @drahardja Poe's Law. As things become more extreme, they become indistinguishable from their own parody.

Other than also being nicely stuble racist on top, this reminds of a horrific “Cloud versus Claude” ads from back when Cloud was the current AI-hype thing: It basically compared a guy named Cloude manually cutting physical with using a photo editor... Except the photo editor was a M$ cloud service, so it was like “innovative”, you know.This is the same level of stupid, I’m so glad I militantly avoid ads nowadays. Getting some nice subtle racist reinforcement is just the tip of the ice berg really.

What IS the guy actually doing?
Never used Copilot so I don't know what he or that Copilot does when he hits ENTER.
Is it about the data viz, the charts, and he's putting his own data into a chart template which he told Copilot to grab from the other guy?or is he telling Copliot to steal the other guy's data?
Or what?

@drahardja @ketan in AI's defense, that was their ad strategy as far back as that Excel in an elevator ad.
-
@ketan Yes, Copilot sucks, but where in the ad does he ask it to copy his coworker's work? All I saw was a vague "make mine beautiful".
@cholling Read the text at the bottom. "Analyze Daniel's model in the all-hands channel."

@drahardja @ketan and the non-office AI ads seem to be "wouldn't it be nice if you could outsource raising your kids to a robot?"

@ketan Ugh. I shouldn't have watched. It's sickening to see the white fantasy lived out so transparently. It's not about the quality of work, it's who gets their ego stroked for minimal effort.
