Every issue of Byte magazine is now online. Old code. Old dreams. Still useful. The archive is a time machine. https://archive.org/details/byte-magazine-1975-09 #tech #history #STEM

@inkican ooh! I used to enjoy reading Byte back in the 80s. Will have to take a wander down memory lane.

From the ‘write your own assembler’ article in the first issue….

‘But such obstacles have never stopped anyone with your boundless enthusiasm’

@inkican So the first issue ads include an ad from "James" electronics in Belmont. Is this Jameco under a previous name?

Also an ad nera the back indciates "tri-share is a trademark of National Semiconductor". Is this a typo? Or perhaps did National call tri-state "tri-share" back September 1975? Or is it something else altogether? National always loved their tristate trademark, that's for sure.

Tip: Check the ads in the back of April issues.

The contents of #InternetArchive are valuable treasure. It's too bad that its UI is so horrible, that metadata of archived items is unreliable, and that it's often impossible to get anybody to correct mistakes.

When I complained about inaccuracies in some items on their forum, the consensus was not that I should contact somebody to fix it. The suggestion was that I should upload another copy of the materials with the corrections.

              Do better @internetarchive .
