My 2nd or 3rd reading, I really like this nerdgasm of a book 😁 but also, it's interesting how stories like these get the decline of society basically backwards.

but also, it's interesting how stories like these get the decline of society basically backwards. Like, no, oil scarcity doesn't end civilization, renewables are right there - but cyberspace also won't become a lotus-eater machine where the radical can find their freedom; any tech advances that could make this possible are enshittified to death long before we get near anything like that.
