Sew, so…
Now that I got my sewing machine repaired by the lovely guy at Maquinas de Coser Málaga, I have been able to continue with my experiment. Here is the unfinished garment with just the sides and sleeves to seam. #sewing #SewingWithRectangles

Needs some pressing, but as you can see, it’s rather an eccentric overshirt with some real possibility.
Critique - I was far too generous in my measurements (I obviously believe I’m a bigger deal than I actually am!). Both the body and shoulder rectangles could be narrowed by 1/4 at least. And the shoulder rectangles could definitely be a little shorter, too. While the sleeves are okay, I’d like to play with making them more kimonoesque

Two things I really liked were:
1. the seam that forms the horizontal neckline, and the way, using bias, it turns into a nice little detail below the shoulders.
2. This particular fabric had the most beautiful shaggy, chaotic selvage. I’m not going to hem it at all. I love the raw look of this, especially with this fabric.

All in all, I think it’s pretty smashing. In these dimensions, it’s definitely going to snake off the shoulder. I think it would look amazing with a white undershirt, and a nice slim pencil skirt. What do you think? #sewing #SewingWithRectangles
